SIR RANULPH FIENNES - Explorer
Officially 'the world’s greatest living explorer' (The Guinness Book of Records), Sir Ranulph needs little introduction. He has dedicated his life to record-breaking expeditions, raising almost £20m for Marie Curie Cancer Care in the process. From the first hovercraft journey up the Nile, through to his 52,000 mile circumnavigation of the world via both poles, his successful summit of Mount Everest aged 64, his ascent of the dreaded North Face of the Eiger, completion of the 7x7x7 Challenge (seven marathons on seven continents in seven days) and his record set last year as the oldest Briton to complete the Marathon des Sables (dubbed “the toughest footrace on Earth”), Sir Ranulph continues to push the boundaries of possibilities and to inspire people all over the world.
