CHARLIE WALKER - Explorer / Adventurer
Charlie Walker, a UK-based adventurer, has covered an impressive 50,000 miles using human power, specialising in reaching remote communities through expeditions on foot, ski, bicycle, raft, kayak, and dugout canoe. A captivating storyteller, Charlie's presentations focus on ambition, resilience, and positivity, blending honesty, upliftment, and humour.
In 2022, amidst Putin's war in Ukraine, Charlie spent two months trekking along the frozen surface of Arctic rivers to connect with isolated Siberian indigenous groups. Unfortunately, the expedition took an unexpected turn, leading to a four-week prison stint on dubious charges related to photographing sensitive military sites.
Charlie's notable feats include a four-year bicycle journey reaching the furthest capes of Europe, Asia, and Africa, and a world-first 5,000-mile triathlon along the Europe-Asia border. His daring exploits encompass descending a little-known Congo River tributary in a leaky dugout canoe, solo trekking across the Gobi Desert, traversing Mongolia with a pony and stray dog, and navigating Papua New Guinea by foot and paddle.
Recognized for his achievements, Charlie is a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society and a four-time recipient of the Transglobe Expedition Trust's 'Mad but Marvellous' award. His work, featured in esteemed publications and media outlets, includes two authored books.
