Next week record breaking ocean rower Sarah Outen will be teaming up with adventurer Dave Cornthwaite to Stand up Paddle between Bath and London.
The pair are hoping to raise £10 000 for the breast cancer charity CoppaFeel and The AV Foundation, which works to boost the quality of school education across Africa. Due to begin in Bath on the 2nd June, the 150 mile journey will be made even harder by 114 portages (obstacles) that Dave and Sarah will have to climb over and around on route, but the two adventurers are excited to be carrying out an expedition within England's shores!
The event is being partnered by The Blue Mile: Race for the Environment project, which uses sport to encourage a wider awareness of the environment in which we play, train and travel.
The aim is to reach 1000 “blue miles” (a non-motorised mile travelled on or beside water), raising £10 per mile. Sarah and Dave will be doing 300 miles between them and would like to invite members of the general public to join them for a stretch of their journey as they travel along the Kennet & Avon and the Thames.
Last bank holiday Sarah took part in another charity fundraiser, when she cycled across Cornwall with Olympic heptathlete Denise Lewis, raising more funds for CoppaFeel.
Sarah is currently planning her next big expedition: London to London: via the world, when she plans to paddle, cycle and canoe 30 000 miles around the world.
