Mark Cooper - Run with Mark

It seems about every 5 minutes that a new tweet appears announcing Mark's latest marathon! Almost three weeks in, and today he is on his 19th, after completing marathon number 18 from Charmes to Thielouze only yesterday.  Mark will continue to run through eastern France for the rest of May, crossing the border into Spain next month, where he is hoping to finish his challenge in Barcelona around the 26th June.

Marathon-runner Mark began his charity challenge to run 50 marathons in just 56 days on the 1st May.  He is running 13 000 miles in order to raise money for the Headway Group, a charity which provides support to people who have suffered a head injury or some other form of acquired brain injury, such as a stroke.  The charity helped Mark and his family after the sudden death of his own mother from brain haemorrage and he is aiming to raise £25 000 for the charity.

As the weather starts to heat up, Mark has already been running in some high temperatures but has been making good time. As with all ultra-endurance challenges, it's having the mental toughness to keep going that is absolutely crucial, as Mark confirmed this week on his twitter:

"no worries on the fitness or physical aspect at the moment just mentally, onwards we march!"

We wish Mark well as he carries on with his challenge and will catch up with him again next month (when he will still be running...)
