How do our speakers engage young people?
Speakers from the Edge all have experience of giving presentations to a variety of age-groups from Foundation Stage right up to those in Higher Education. We believe in the importance of developing young people, helping them acquire skills to be creative, resilient and proactive: skills which are crucial in enabling young people to positively manage the challenges of life.
The stories and learning opportunities from the world of exploration and adventure provide an excellent means to help young people develop these skills, firing their imagination and demonstrating the results that determination and a strong sense of self can bring - but don't just take our word for it - see what other schools thought here.
If you would like to find out what young people think of our speakers, you can read some testimonials from children here.
"Please would you pass on our warmest thanks to Simon for a really great talk this morning. The children were fascinated by the tales of his adventures - and the pictures and equipment that he brought along really helped illustrate the amazing challenges he has taken on.
At the end of his talk they had tons of questions for him, which he dealt with brilliantly. I think it says it all that nearly half of my class now want to be mountaineers for real...and not just in our class work. Thoroughly inspiring!"
